The Development Board is responsible for leadership and oversight of AGU's annual fund-raising and long-term financial development programs.

Development Board Charge

  • Recommend fundraising strategies to the Board of Directors;
  • Work closely with volunteer leaders, the Executive Director, and Development Director to implement fundraising strategies;
  • Develop strong liaison relationships with committees overseeing non-revenue-generating Union activities to assist these committees in aligning their programs with available resources;
  • Align fundraising efforts with Union’s strategic objectives;
  • Develop and nurture relationships with members, corporations, foundations and government agencies possessing promising resources for funding strategically important AGU programs; and
  • Report on progress of the committee to the Board of Directors and Council twice per year, or more frequently as required

Work Plan for 2010–2012

  • Develop and execute fundraising strategies to provide resources for non-revenue generating initiatives identified in the AGU strategic plan;
  • Conduct a strategic review of all existing funds and fundraising approaches to ensure consistency with the AGU strategic plan; and
  • Assist the Outreach Committee to identify and implement initiatives within the constraints of available funding resources.
