The amount of ice on planet Earth

Approximately 27,000 km of oversnow traverse involving seismic measurements have been made in Antarctica since the inception of IGY. Compilation of these data on maps and cross sections makes it possible to determine the amount of ice on Earth. The total volume of grounded ice is 26.7×10⁶ km³ or 24.0×10⁶ km³ of water equivalent. Of this amount, 89.4 pct is stored in Antarctica. If all of this ice were to melt suddenly without isostatic adjustment, sea level would rise 66.3 meters.
