On Friday, 30 October, President Obama signed an appropriations bill (H.R. 2996) for Interior and Environment for Fiscal Year 2010 (FY10). The vote came one day before funding, via a continuing resolution, for federal agencies and programs that fall under the “Interior and Environment” umbrella were set to expire. Many departments and agencies still do not have appropriations bills passed and so H.R. 2996 also extends funding until 18 December for those departments and agencies at FY09 levels. The conference report, which gives details of each program’s funding levels, can be found at: http://appropriations.house.gov/pdf/InteriorConfRept.pdf

The President has yet to sign the appropriations bill for Commerce, Justice, and Science, H.R. 2847, which is the final appropriations bill affecting the Earth and space sciences.
