Supplementary material to “Origin and Offshore Extent of Floating Algae in Olympic Sailing Area”

Several examples of the MODIS time-series imagery are presented here to show the development of the floating algae between mid May 2008 and early July 2008. The 250-m resolution images cover the area from 33N to 37N and 119E to 123E. The floating algae appear on these images as outstanding slicks or small patches over relatively homogeneous background. The original images (in PNG format) and their accompanying KML files can be obtained from http://www.imars.usf.edu/papers/qingdao_algae where the computer file names use the following convention:

2008 => year
177 => day of the year
0435 => GMT hour and minute
