Overview
Studies of the Earth's deep interior involve a wide range of disciplines to address some of the most fundamental questions regarding the origin, evolution, composition, and dynamics of our planet. Addressing depths inaccessible to direct sampling and spatial scales ranging from the sub-mineral scale to many thousands of kilometers, SEDI scientists use a number of different approaches including global seismology, geomagnetism, surface topography and gravity, mineral physics experiments, geochemistry, and geodynamic models. The AGU SEDI focus group provides various forums for groups from different disciplines to share and integrate their research for a more complete understanding of the deep Earth.
Announcements
The SEDI reception at the 2009 Fall Annual Meeting of AGU will be Tuesday, December 15, 6:30-8:00pm, held jointly with the Mineral Physics Focus Group. Take this opportunity to honor our students receiving best paper awards for the last Spring and Fall meetings and to meet colleagues you might otherwise miss.
