Capitol Cause
“Advocacy is a long-term investment for any organization and takes continual contact and relationship building with key policy makers. The AGU is an important resource for policy-relevant science for this country and AGU members should support this effort through both giving of their time and resources.”

Politicians are bombarded with information from individuals and groups advocating for their narrow, vested interests. As geophysicists, our challenge is to deliver unbiased, sound scientific advice that cuts through confusing data flooding congressional offices. The best way to do this is through face-to-face meetings with policymakers and testimonies before House and Senate Committees. However, many AGU members don’t have the means for effective participation.
One easy way to take action is through the Capitol Cause checkoff which helps support visits to Congress and special orientations. Please add an extra $3 or more to your gift for this initiative.
