Luna B. Leopold Young Scientist Award
The Luna B. Leopold Award was established in 2009 by the Earth and Planetary Surface Processes focus group to recognize a young scientist for making a significant and outstanding contribution that advances the field of earth and planetary surface processes. This award is given to scientists within 5 years of their Ph.D (or equivalent) degree. The award is to honor Luna B. Leopold, who engaged and nurtured young scientists throughout his distinguished career in hydrology and fluvial geomorphology.
G. K. Gilbert Award
The G. K. Gilbert Award was established in 2009 by the Earth and Planetary Surface Processes focus group to recognize a scientist who has either made a single significant advance or sustained significant contributions to the field of earth and planetary surface processes, and who has in addition promoted an environment of unselfish cooperation in research and the inclusion of young scientists into the field. The award is to honor G. K. Gilbert, who was essentially the founder of modern quantitative geomorphology.
