AGU member since 1974. Professor of Hydrology at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro, New Mexico. Major area of interest is groundwater hydrology, currently focused on contaminant source identification, stream-aquifer interaction, including the hyporheic zone, and recharge to mountains. The latter topic has taken him into related fields stretching from geostatistical precipitation estimation, through land surface energy balance modeling, to remote sensing. B.C.E., 1968, Georgia Institute of Technology; C.E. and S.M., 1970, and Ph.D., 1974, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Faculty positions at MIT 1973–82; consulting with Intera Inc, 1982–84; faculty positions at New Mexico Tech since 1984 in the Dept. of Earth and Environmental Science. Board of Directors (Chair, 2001–2004), Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrology Science Inc. (CUAHSI); Advisory Committees for Environmental Research and Education, and for Geoscience, NSF (2003–05); External Advisory Board for TIMES and for ESSL, at NCAR (2005–08).
