Member of AGU since 1964. Professor of space physics at the University of California, Los Angeles, since 1969. Research interests include solar wind-magnetosphere coupling, ULF wave phenomena, magnetospheric substorms, magnetic storms, and space weather forecasting. B.S., Physics, University of Washington, 1969; M.A., Physics, University of Southern California, 1961; Ph.D., University of California, Berkeley, 1968. Published 202 refereed papers, 146 in AGU journals. Six additional refereed papers have appeared in AGU monographs. Served on a number of NASA and National Academy committees concerned with data archiving and distribution. Financial secretary of IAGA and a member of the International Service of Geomagnetic Indices (ISGI) advisory board. AGU service as Fellow since 1995. Nominated several successful candidates for AGU Fellowship. Organized a number of AGU symposia and chaired several AGU sessions. Coorganizer of the 2005 Chapman Conference on Recurrent Magnetic Storms and coeditor of the AGU Monograph. |
