AGU member since 1987. Associate professor of geology, University of Oregon, since 2001. Major interests include magmatic volatiles, volcanic gases, subduction zone processes, mantle melting, physical volcanology, and formation of large igneous provinces. B.S., 1986, George Washington University; Ph.D., 1991, University of California, Berkeley. Postdoctoral position in geophysical sciences at University of Chicago, 1992–1995. Staff scientist, Ocean Drilling Program, Texas A&M University, 1995–2001. Author of 40 refereed publications, three in AGU journals. VGP Bowen Award Committee, 2002–2006; VGP Education and Outreach Committee, 2002–2004. Member of the editorial board of Geology, 1998–2000. Member of International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth's Interior (IAVCEI).
