The Conference will be three days and include six sessions: project updates, habitats for life, hydrology and ice sheets, sedimentary records, technology challenges and general discussion. Each session will begin with a one-hour keynote presentation followed by three half-hour invited presentations. Each session concludes with a forum for discussion. Following lunch each day, there will be a poster session on that day’s topics. Each day will end with a panel discussion by the presenters moderated by the conveners. The final session (6) will foster in-depth discussion and will be facilitated by the program committee.
An updated program [pdf] is now available.
Fifty (50) to 75 participants are expected. Representatives of three major SAE programs — Subglacial Lake Vostok (Russia), Subglacial Lake Ellsworth (UK), and the Whillans Ice Stream Subglacial Access Research Drilling (WISSARD, USA) will be in attendance and will schedule satellite meetings. The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) Scientific Research Program Subglacial Antarctic Lake Environments (SALE) will also schedule a program meeting following the Conference.
