Further Information
The conference will bring together volcanologists, geophysicists and marine geoscientists with interests in the processes and significance of explosive subaqueous eruptions in seafloor settings, and in the formation of clastic volcanogenic successions on the modern seafloor and in ancient successions, and in the processes and significance of explosive subaqueous eruptions in seafloor settings. The conference will foster better communication among these groups of scientists, and provide an opportunity for recent research results to be presented in a forum in which there is scope to develop new perspectives and directions for future collaborative research by interested scientists from a range of backgrounds.
The conveners are currently planning for four and a half days of presentations with a mid-meeting field trip devoted to examining seacliff exposures of early Cenozoic subaqueous surtseyan deposits. There will be morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. Posters will be put up at the beginning of the conference and remain available for viewing and discussion throughout the conference.
To apply for travel funds, please print and complete the Chapman Conference Travel Grant Application, and return it to the AGU Meetings Department by October 1, 2001.
