General Conference Information CONFERENCE LOCATION:

The William F. Bolger Center for Leadership Development is the site for the 2nd Chapman Conference on Water Vapor in Climate System. Located in the Potomac/Rockville area of Maryland, this former convent is now a unique conference facility owned by the United States Postal Service and managed by ARAMARK Conference Center Management. You will find many activities await you at the Bolger Center. They have nature trails for walking, jogging or biking (bikes for rent at no cost) throughout their beautiful 83 acres, a heated, indoor olympic-sized pool, basketball and volleyball courts (indoor and outdoor), a baseball diamond, aerobics classes offered Monday through Thursday, as well as yoga and other light stretching classes, weight training, wellness seminars, physical fitness assessments, and cardiovascular conditioning. All at no cost to guests. The Center has a pub on the premises for those who want to gather for refreshments after a day of sessions or if you want to go downtown, a limited shuttle service is provided in the afternoon/evening between The William F. Bolger Center and the Bethesda Metro Station.

AUDIO VISUAL:

AGU will provide 2 overhead projectors, 1 slide projector, 2 screens, and a VCR and monitor for your use. Additional equipment can be rented at full cost to the presenter by contacting Kristen Hansen at AGU via e-mail: khansen@agu.org, phone: 202-777-7329, 1-800-966-2481, ext. 329.

POSTER SESSION:
For those who are presenting a poster, the board size is 4 feet high by 8 feet wide.

Registration:
Registration includes admission to all scientific sessions, full buffet lunch (Tuesday-Friday), all day beverage breaks with morning and afternoon snacks, evening poster session/reception on Tuesday, October 12. Meeting Attendees (Day Guests), who are not staying overnight, may wish to purchase dinner on Tuesday, October 12 for an additional $20 since this day extends into the evening poster session. NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION IS AVAILABLE FOR THIS CONFERENCE.

The regular registration fee is $268.00. For students, the registration fee is $130.00. There are no one-day or prorated fees for this conference. All registration materials (including receipts) will be available at the meeting for those who have preregistered.

Housing:
Housing is being held at the William F. Bolger Center. All reservations must be made through AGU and full payment received by September 17, 1999 (Friday) to ensure accommodations at the quoted prices. After this deadline, reservations will be made only on a space available basis at prevailing rates. Please complete the housing reservation section of the registration form. A Standard Single Room includes one double bed, full bath, closet, desk, TV, phone, hair dryer, ironing board and iron, and dataport access for laptops. Rates: $160 per night includes Breakfast, Dinner, and state and local taxes.

Check-In: 3:00 pm; starts with Dinner available between 5:00pm and 8:00pm
Check-Out: 12:00 noon; ends with Breakfast between 6:00am and 8:30am (Lunch is provided with the registration through Friday and is available between 11:00am and 1:30pm)

Cancellation/Changes:
In order to receive a full refund, written notice of changes and cancellation must be received at AGU by October 1, 1999. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER OCTOBER 1. TRANSPORTATION:

By Airport:
If you are coming by air, the closest airports are: Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Ronald Reagan National/Washington National Airport (DCA). Baltimore Washington International (BWI) is also in close proximity.

Shuttle Service:
It is recommended that you obtain a shuttle service at these airports to take you to the William F. Bolger Center, 9600 Newbridge Drive, Potomac, Maryland (Call SuperShuttle at 1-800-258-3826 or Washington Flyer at 1-703-417-8471, for more information the web site is http://www.metwashairports.com/Dulles/transportation.html).


Metro from Washington National Airport:
The Ronald Reagan National/Washington National Airport (DCA) is located near the National Airport Metro station (Blue and Yellow Lines). Take the Yellow Line to Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro or the Blue Line to Metro Center and transfer to a Red Line going in the direction of Grosvener or Shady Grove. Exit at the Bethesda Metro Station. The Center provides limited shuttle service to/from the Bethesda Metro Station (Red Line) Monday - Friday. The shuttle arrives at Bethesda Station at 5:10pm, waits five minutes and leaves. The shuttle continues to arrive at Bethesda Station at 6:25pm, 7:40pm, 8:55pm, 10:10pm, and 11:25pm.

By Car:
Directions from Points North (Baltimore or BWI Airport or New York):
Take 95 South towards Washington, take 495 (CAPITAL BELTWAY) towards Northern Virginia and Silver Spring, MD, exit onto Old Georgetown Road (stay to your right off the exit), at 3rd light take left onto Democracy Boulevard, approximately 5 miles, take left onto Newbridge Drive, 1st right into William F. Bolger Center, follow driveway to the Reception Building to check-in.

Directions from Points South (Virginia):
Take 95 North to 495 (CAPITAL BELTWAY) North towards Silver Spring, MD, from 495 take the River Road exit (exit 39, Rt. 190 West), towards Potomac, continue on River Road until Newbridge Drive, approximately 1.5 miles, take left into William F. Bolger Center, follow driveway to the Reception Building to check-in.

Directions from Dulles Airport:
Take Dulles Access Road toward Washington, D.C., take 495 (CAPITAL BELTWAY) North towards Frederick/Baltimore, MD, take the River Road exit (exit 39, Rt. 190 West), continue on River Road for about 2 miles, turn right onto Newbridge Drive, approximately 1.3 miles, take left into William F. Bolger Center, follow driveway to the Reception Building to check-in.

Directions from Washington National Airport:
As you exit the airport, you will be on George Washington Parkway, bear right to take 495 (CAPITAL BELTWAY) North towards Frederick/Baltimore, MD, take the River Road exit (exit 39, Rt. 190 West), continue on River Road, turn right onto Newbridge Drive, approximately 1.3 miles, take left into William F. Please note that this facility has very nice accommodations but the sleeping rooms are small.
