Registration and Housing Information
On-site registration only after 19 November 2001
To take advantage of preregistration rates, the registration form with payment must have been received by Friday, November 9, 2001. After this date, registrations must include a $45 late fee. Registrations were accepted at the AGU office only until Monday, November 19, 2001. After this date, individuals must register on-site.
Payment can be made only by American Express, VISA, Mastercard, check (payable to AGU), postal money order, or bank draft. Purchase orders will not be accepted for payment of registration. If a registration is received after November 9, 2001, AGU will automatically charge the $45.00 late fee. At the meeting, U.S. dollars are also acceptable.
Ordering of Fall Meeting Abstracts
Abstracts are available to customers who renew with membership or have subscriptions, or can be purchased with meeting registration. Meeting registrants can purchase the Fall Meeting abstracts as a printed paper volume OR as a CD-Rom. If you paid for the 2001 abstract volume with your membership renewal, a printed version will be mailed to you as part of the regular subscription when published.
You can purchase a single copy of the abstracts for pickup at the meeting as a printed paper volume for $15, or as a CD-Rom version for $8. There is no advance shipping of the either version of the abstracts when purchased with registration. Your order must be received by October 12 to guaranteed availability. Only a limited quantity of volumes and CD-roms will be available to sell at the meeting. Refunds are not given for the purchase of Fall Meeting abstracts.

On-Site Registration Hours
On-site registration will be located in the Esplanade Lobby in the South Building of the Moscone Center during the following hours:

Guests or spouses not attending the scientific sessions may register at the meeting at no charge. A guest is a spouse, friend, or an adult child (18 and over) who is not in a geophysical sciences related occupation or field. A co-worker or an associate working in a related geophysical sciences field or studying geophysics in school may not register as a guest. Registered guests may go to the exhibits and may attend and purchase tickets to social events at the advertised rates.
The preregistration receipt will be attached to your badge, which will be given to you at the time of registration.
- You must send written notification of cancellations to AGU headquarters.
- The full registration fee will be refunded if written notification is received at AGU headquarters by November 19.
- Between November 20, 2001 and November 30, 2001, a $20 processing fee will be deducted from the amount paid.
- Refunds will not be processed after November 30, 2001.
- Notification to cancel tickets for events will not be honored unless received 96 hours prior to the event.

Housing Deadline has passed.
AGU has reserved a block of rooms at a wide selection of properties in downtown San Francisco, near the Moscone Center, that will suit a variety of budgets and tastes. While many of the hotels are within walking distance of the Moscone Center, limited round-trip shuttle service from several hotels to the Moscone Center will be provided for your convenience. Shuttle schedules will be posted in the hotel lobbies and at the Moscone Center.
Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis. After November 9, reservations will be accepted on a space-available basis only, and rates are subject to change. Rooms fill up quickly, so we advise you to make your reservations early.
Deposit Information: No hotel reservation will be processed or confirmed by Convention Management Resources (CMR) without providing credit card deposit information for hotel billing in the amount of $125 or a deposit check made payable to CMR, NOT payable to the hotel or AGU, in the amount of $125 per room, $300 per suite. IMPORTANT: CMR will forward all individual credit card deposit information to the hotel for processing in the amount of $125 prior to guest arrival. Confirmation of Hotel Reservations
Within 72 hours of requesting a housing assignment, you will receive confirmation of your housing reservation by mail or fax. Any reservation change or cancellation will prompt the system to generate a new confirmation notice. Please carefully review the information on your confirmation notice for accuracy and bring it with you to San Francisco. NOTE: You will not receive a confirmation from the hotel.
All changes, cancellations, and requests for refunds must be received by CMR 72 hours prior to arrival in order to avoid forfeiture of your hotel deposit. Hotels have been selected on the basis of location, availability, price, safety, and desirability.

Participants traveling from outside the United States may wish to purchase accident and medical insurance protection during their visit to San Francisco. Seabury and Smith, an association service organization, offers coverage through its Gateway USA program. Insurance must be purchased for a minimum of 15 days, up to a maximum of 60 days.
