Urgent Visa Information: Visa applicants now must apply at least 3 months in advance of their travel date.

For the second year, AGU's Fall Meeting will make use of Moscone West. Unless otherwise noted in the Meeting Program, scientific sessions and other events will be held at Moscone West, located at 800 Howard Street, one-half block west of Moscone North and South, and directly across 4th Street from the Metreon.

Housing

Accommodations

A wide range of hotel options, including different prices, levels of service and locations, are available for your selection. Many hotels are within walking distance of Moscone West. Limited, round-trip shuttle service between hotels outside walking distance and Moscone West will be provided for your convenience.

Onsite shuttle schedules will be posted in hotel lobbies and at Moscone West.

Hotel reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis. Special AGU room rates published in this issue will be subject to change after the 4 November reservations deadline date. Rooms fill up quickly, so we advise you to make your reservations as early as possible.

Reservations

Deposits

Reservations will not be processed or confirmed by Convention Management Resources (CMR) unless or until you provide credit card information along with your approval for a deposit charge in the amount of $125 per room or $300 per suite, or a deposit check, made payable to CMR (not payable to the hotel or AGU), in the amount of $125 per room or $300 per suite.

Please note that CMR will forward all individual credit card information to the hotel for processing prior to guest arrival. Check deposits made out to CMR will appear as a credit on the individual's guest hotel folio.

Parking Tax

The city of San Francisco charges a 14% tax per night for overnight parking. This charge will be added to the individual's guest hotel folio.

You can make Hotel reservations one of three ways

1) Online

Use the online reservations form (opens in new window)—must be accompanied by credit card payment.

2) Mail or Fax

To make a reservation by mail or fax, print the printable reservations form and mail or fax with deposit to the AGU Fall Meeting Housing Bureau at the following address:

Please have your Visa, MasterCard or American Express card ready to secure your reservation with the required deposit.

You can expect to receive confirmation of your housing arrangements via email or fax within 72 hours of submitting your reservation Online or fax reservations. Changes or cancellations will prompt the system to generate a new confirmation notice. Carefully review the information on your confirmation notice for accuracy and bring a hard copy with you to San Francisco. NOTE: You will not receive a confirmation from the hotel.

Changes/Cancellations/Refund Policy

All changes, cancellations, and requests for refunds must be received by CMR at least 72 hours prior to arrival in order to avoid forfeiture of your hotel deposit.

Shuttle Bus Service

Shuttle service will be provided to and from all hotels, except the Argent, San Francisco Marriott, Sheraton Palace, Villa Florence and Powell Hotel. Schedules and pickup locations will be posted in all hotel lobbies and the Moscone Center. Taxis are available and are reasonably priced. The San Francisco area train/subway sytem, BART (Opens in new window.), is also very convenient and easy to use.

Airline Discounts

Save money on your domestic travel costs to San Francisco on United Airlines! You will receive a 5% discount off the lowest applicable discount fare, including first class, or a 10% discount off midweek coach fares purchased 7 days in advance. If purchasing at least 30 days in advance of the travel dates, you receive an additional 5% discount off the already discounted or special fare. Or you may choose Area Pricing, a discounted, fixed-rate airfare based on geographical location, which must be purchased 7 days in advance.

SuperShuttle San Francisco Airport Travelers

Travel Insurance

Participants traveling from outside the United States may wish to purchase accident and medical insurance protection during their visit to San Francisco. Seabury and Smith, an association service organization, offers coverage through its Gateway USA program. Insurance must be purchased for a minimum of 15 days, up to a maximum of 60 days. Prices will vary depending upon the individual's age and choice of benefit package.
