Registration

Baggage Airline Guest Services, Inc. (BAGS)

Moscone West, Lobby at Coat Check
Thursday - Friday: 0730h–1830h

BAGS Remote Airline Check-In Services makes it easier for attendees to check in for selected domestic flights departing from San Francisco International Airport. For a $10 fee plus applicable airline baggage fees, guests flying out of San Francisco International Airport on any of BAGS' airline partners will be able to securely check up to two bags of up to 50 lbs. and receive their boarding pass at the BAGS kiosk in the Moscone Center. Baggage is secured and transported to the airport, where it undergoes the same TSA screening process as baggage checked by passengers at airline ticket counters. Baggage can be checked as early as 12 hours and as late as 3 hours prior to departure. Airline partners include Air Tran, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Continental Airlines, Jet Blue, Northwest Airlines, Song, United, Ted, and US Airways.

AGU continues its acclaimed and successful Career Center, a valuable resource for employment positions, current career information, and the latest data on employment trends in the geosciences. Information regarding the Outstanding Student Paper Program will also be available here.

Child Care

KiddieCorp provides a professional children's program at the meeting. Fees are $7 per hour per child for children ages 6 months through 12 years, and $9 per hour per child for children under 6 months. Children must be registered for a minimum of two (2) consecutive hours per child per day. For more information, please contact KiddieCorp by phone at +1-858-455-1718 or by email: info@kiddiecorp.com. Register online or by completing the attached form [pdf]. Child care services are a contractual agreement between each individual and the child care company. AGU assumes no responsibility for the services rendered.

Donor Circle Lounge

The Donor Circle Lounge offers a quiet atmosphere for Supporting Members and special AGU guests to start the morning, unwind in the afternoon, mingle, prepare for a presentation, and check e-mail. There is ready access to computers, printers, the Internet, newspapers, and a message board.

Editor Resource Center

The Editor Resource Center serves as the Fall Meeting on-site info hub where AGU Editors and Associate Editors may relax, get a cup of coffee, catch up on e-mail, or hold informal meetings. While there, Editors and AEs will experience an environment conducive to collaboration with their counterparts on other AGU journals. It is also where they can share approaches to various editorial challenges and develop new collegial relationships. Internet/WiFi connection, a computer, and a printer will be available.

Staff will be on hand with individual journal publishing statistics for their formal editorial board meetings. They will assist Editors and AEs with any questions or problems and provide information about upcoming editor searches, developments in the AGU journal publishing process, and news about the HQ Publications Division.

We recommend that you create emergency contact information in your cell phone listed as ICE (In Case of Emergency) for use by health care providers or other emergency personnel if necessary.

Facilities Desk

Staff will be available to assist you with your poster location and other on-site needs. Push pins, tape, and scissors will be available for your use. Additional supplies may be available. However, if you have special needs for your poster presentation, we suggest you bring those supplies with you to the meeting. Presenters will also be able to place on-site orders for audio visual equipment here.

First Aid

A registered nurse will be on call during regular meeting hours to provide basic first-aid services and supply items such as bandages and acetaminophen.

Wireless Internet and Help Desks

Wireless Internet access is available throughout all areas of the Moscone Center if your laptop is equipped with a Wi-Fi or 802.11B wireless network card (PC) or airport card (Macintosh). Wireless Help Desks are available daily from 0900h to 1700h in the Get Online room in the Poster Hall (Moscone South), and Moscone West, Level 2. The name of the network provider to access the Internet at Moscone is Priority Networks.

Guests

Guests or spouses not attending the scientific sessions may register at the meeting at no charge. A guest is a spouse, friend, or adult child (18 years old and older) who is not working in a geophysical science related occupation or field. A colleague or associate working in a related geophysical sciences field or studying geophysics in school may not register as a guest. Registered guests may only go to the exhibits and attend and purchase tickets to social events at the advertised rates.

Leadership/Honors Booth

This booth serves as the hub for volunteer and honoree activities and questions. Staff will be on hand to assist with ribbons; VIP/volunteer registration, tickets, and guest badges; and Honors Banquet questions.

The Leadership Lounge welcomes AGU officers, section presidents, Presidents' Club/President's Circle members, and benefactors. The Lounge offers a quiet atmosphere for Supporting Members and special AGU guests to start their morning, unwind in the afternoon, mingle, prepare for a presentation, and check e-mail. There is ready access to computers, printers, the Internet, newspapers, and a message board.

Lost and Found

Lost and Found will be located at the Message and Information Booths during session hours. At the end of each day, articles will be brought to Central Security on Moscone West, Level 1. The Moscone Security Control room can be contacted by dialing 4021 on a white house courtesy phone. Detailed information on hours and location can be found under "Message and Information Booth."

The Meeting Place

These rooms have been set aside for attendees to coordinate impromptu gatherings during the week. Poster boards will be set outside each room with 1-hour time slots each day. At the beginning of each day, attendees will be able to write the name of their gathering on the space provided to reserve the room on a first-come/first-serve basis for the same day only. Requests posted in advance will be removed.

This central information center is accessible to anyone trying to contact meeting attendees. Messages can be left at the number listed above. Telephone messages will be posted on message boards. Please check these boards regularly in case other attendees are trying to reach you. Individuals cannot be paged. Outside of registration hours it is recommended that messages be left at the attendee's hotel.

New Mother's Room

A private room has been set aside near Child Care for breastfeeding and lactating mothers. A refrigerator, if needed, will be available in the Child Care room (Moscone South, Rooms 236–238).

Poster Services – DPI Printing Services

AGU has made arrangements with a local San Francisco printer to print your posters for pick-up at the Moscone Center. The cost will be $125 per poster. Files can be uploaded directly to DPI. Click on "Place an Order" then 'Create an Account' and log-in. Next, click on "AGU 2009 Poster Form", fill in the necessary information and attach the file. Please note that DPI is only accepting PDF files. Payment for all posters is required when placing the order. Participants will also be able to arrange poster printing on-site for pick-up later in the week. Please note that DPI needs at least 3 days to fulfill each order.

Press Room

To promote public understanding of Earth and space sciences, AGU operates a press room and holds press conferences as part of this international meeting. Press releases about research presented at the meeting are made available to reporters in the press room.

Shuttle service is provided between the Moscone Center and convention hotels. Sunday service will be provided to and from Moscone West. Monday-Friday all service will be to and from Moscone South.

ALL speakers are required to check into the Speaker Ready Room at least 24 hours before their presentation. Those presenting on Monday, 15 December, must check in on Sunday in Moscone West, regardless of where your presentation is.
