Groundwater Modeler / Geoscientist

INTERA Incorporated, an internationally recognized consulting firm in developing and applying numerical models, has an immediate opening for a Groundwater Modeler / Geoscientist to assist in evaluating the impacts of underground nuclear testing on groundwater at the Nevada Test Site. The successful applicant will join an outstanding team of professionals performing quantitative hydrogeologic evaluations including the use of sophisticated sensitivity and uncertainty analysis techniques.

This position is located in Las Vegas, Nevada, and requires that the applicant possess the following:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in geosciences; civil, environmental, chemical, or petroleum engineering; or mathematics
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in developing and applying groundwater flow and transport numerical models
  • Experience performing technical analyses of field-scale modeling results and the proven ability to document and communicate the results for scientific review

Other desired skills include the ability to manage task schedules and budgets, experience with both finite difference and finite element models, familiarity with Unix/Linux, and the ability to program in FORTRAN or Perl.
