Rock and Paleomagnetism Short Course

Professor Lisa Tauxe of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography will teach a course designed for Earth Science students and professionals. The course serves as an introduction to rock and paleomagnetism using the Lectures in Paleomagnetism course materials and software. Topics will include: 1) applied rock magnetism, 2) field and lab procedures, 3) directions, poles and paleointensity, and 4) anisotropy data. The instructional format will begin with a brief introductory lecture followed by a hands-on tutorial using “real” data.
