The 2008 Joint Assembly is being held 27–30 May 2008 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale-Broward County Convention Center, located at 1950 Eisenhower Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Program Committee is developing a Union-wide science program that will cover topics in all areas of geophysical sciences. Located in sunny Florida, the Joint Assembly is sure to offer exciting sessions and a relaxing atmosphere. Visa applicants from many countries must now apply at least 3 months in advance of their travel date. See Visa Information for details.

• The Centro Regional de Sismologia para America del Sur (CERESIS) is dedicated to promoting seismology.
• The Colegio de Ingenieros Geofísicos de México (CIGMEX) is dedicated to promoting the study of the physical parameters of the system Earth.
• The Geochemical Society (GS) is a private, nonprofit international scientific society founded to encourage the application of chemistry to the solution of geological and cosmological problems.
• The Mineralogical Society of America (MSA) provides a forum for individuals interested in mineralogy, crystallography, and petrology.
• The Sociedad Geologica de Chile (SGCH) is dedicated to promoting high quality research, education, and outreach activities in the geosciences.
• The Sociedade Brasileira de Geofísica (SBGf) is dedicated to promoting the geophysical sciences in the country of Brazil.
• The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) fosters the expert and ethical practice of geophysics in the exploration and development of natural resources, in characterizing the near-surface, and in mitigating earth hazards.
• The The Solar Physics Division of the American Astronomical Society (SPD/AAS) advances the study of the Sun and coordinates such research with other branches of science. The AAS promotes the advancement of astronomy in general.
• The Union Geofisica Mexicana (UGM) promotes the cooperation between scientific organizations whose objectives include the promotion of the knowledge of geophysical disciplines.
• The Unión Mexicana para Estudios del Cuaternario (UMEC) is dedicated to promoting and fostering research, educational, and outreach activities in the Quaternary Sciences.
