The 2008 Joint Assembly is being held 27–30 May 2008 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale-Broward County Convention Center, located at 1950 Eisenhower Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Program Committee is developing a Union-wide science program that will cover topics in all areas of geophysical sciences. Located in sunny Florida, the Joint Assembly is sure to offer exciting sessions and a relaxing atmosphere. Visa applicants from many countries must now apply at least 3 months in advance of their travel date.

• AGU is an international scientific society of over 50,000 members that fosters high-quality scientific research in the understanding of Earth and atmospheric, oceanic, hydrologic, space and planetary sciences.
• The Asociación Argentina de Geofísicos y Geodestas (AAGG) contributes to the promotion of the investigation and the education of geophysics and geodesy in the country of Argentina.
• The Asociación Latinoamericana de Paleomagnetismo y Geomagnetismo (LATINMAG) is a Latin-American Collaborative Network in geo, paleo, rock, and environmental magnetism
• The Asociacion Latinoamericana de Ciencias de la Tierra (ALACIT) is dedicated to advancing geosciences research and education in the Latin American countries, and to promoting and organizing collaboration programs and meetings.
• The Centro Regional de Sismologia para America del Sur (CERESIS) is dedicated to promoting seismology.
• The Colegio de Ingenieros Geofísicos de México (CIGMEX) is dedicated to promoting the study of the physical parameters of the system Earth.
• The Geochemical Society (GS) is a private, nonprofit international scientific society founded to encourage the application of chemistry to the solution of geological and cosmological problems.
• The Mineralogical Society of America (MSA) provides a forum for individuals interested in mineralogy, crystallography, and petrology.
• The Sociedad Geologica de Chile (SGCH) is dedicated to promoting high quality research, education, and outreach activities in the geosciences.
• The Sociedade Brasileira de Geofísica (SBGf) is dedicated to promoting the geophysical sciences in the country of Brazil.
• The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) fosters the expert and ethical practice of geophysics in the exploration and development of natural resources, in characterizing the near-surface, and in mitigating earth hazards.
• The The Solar Physics Division of the American Astronomical Society (SPD/AAS) advances the study of the Sun and coordinates such research with other branches of science. The AAS promotes the advancement of astronomy in general.
• The Union Geofisica Mexicana (UGM) promotes the cooperation between scientific organizations whose objectives include the promotion of the knowledge of geophysical disciplines.
• The Unión Mexicana para Estudios del Cuaternario (UMEC) is dedicated to promoting and fostering research, educational, and outreach activities in the Quaternary Sciences.
