| Description: |
The start of the 21st century has seen a large number of great earthquakes, in particular subduction megathrust events, that have had extraordinary societal impact. The exceptional data-sets now available for both before and after megathrust ruptures have allowed fundamental discoveries to be made which will inevitably lead to greater understanding of subduction zone processes. The most far-reaching research seeks to combine the work of scientists from multiple disciplines such as marine geophysics, seismology, earthquake dynamics, geodesy, InSAR, geology, tsunami modelling and risk assessment. This session aims to bring researchers from all of these fields together to examine the current state of the art and how the results from one field can influence the work of others. |
