This is the central information center for the Ocean Sciences Meeting. Anyone trying to contact meeting attendees should call the number listed above. Telephone messages will be posted on message boards. Incoming faxes should be sent to the fax number listed above. Faxes will be received and a message will be placed on the message boards for the recipient. Please plan to check these boards regularly in case other attendees are trying to reach you. Individuals cannot be paged. Outside of registration hours it is recommended that messages be left at the attendee's hotel.
AGU Career Center

The AGU Career Center is a service sponsored by the AGU Committee on Education and Human Resources for geoscientists seeking employment and employers looking for staff with scientific training. For the 2004 Ocean Sciences Meeting, the Career Center is a free, self-service operation. Please note that a copy machine and separate interview space will not be available at this meeting.
Job Candidates: Come to the Career Center daily and view the job postings on the Opportunities Board. Bring five copies of your resume to place in the Candidate Resume Book that will be available for review by prospective employers. Be sure to get a Candidate Number and check the Communication Board daily for messages from employers trying to set up interview appointments. The latest statistics on jobs and careers in geosciences will also be posted.
Employers: Please register (no cost) in the Employer Book and post your available positions on the Career Center Opportunities Board. Identify prospective employees by reviewing the Candidate Resume Book compilation of meeting participants seeking employment. The Communication Board can be used for posting messages to job candidates that you wish to meet in person at the meeting.

The business center provides services including photocopying, transparencies, fax transmission and receipt, overnight mail drop point, UPS, and limited office supplies.

As part of AGU's goal to promote public understanding of geophysics, AGU operates a
newsroom and holds news conferences at its meetings. News releases and copies of
journal articles about research being presented at the meeting are made available to reporters in
the newsroom.

E-mail terminals with secure Internet access are available in Hall A. Wireless Internet via the 802.11B (Wi-Fi) standard is available in the concourse area. Your laptop must be equipped with a Wi-Fi or 802.11B wireless network card for PCs or an Airport card for Macintosh.
Child Care
8:00 A.M.-5:30 P.M.
Kiddie Corp will provide professional child care services in the Oregon Convention Center in Room C123. Fees are $8 per hour for children aged 6 months and over, and $12 per hour for infants aged 6 weeks to 6 months. There is a 3-hour minimum reservation. Children aged 6 months to 12 years will enjoy games, story time, arts and crafts, and other fun-filled activities.
Child care services are a contractual agreement between each individual and Kiddie Corp. AGU assumes no responsibility for the services rendered. There is a charge of $2.00 per piece to check items.
First Aid
A registered nurse will be on-call during all meeting hours to provide basic first aid services and supply items such as Band-Aids, acetaminophen, etc. The First Aid Office is located just outside the entrance to Hall A.
