Geophysical Information for Teachers (GIFT) Workshop

This workshop offers teachers of pre-college students an opportunity to meet the scientists doing the research that is defining our physical world and its environment in space. This meeting's GIFT Workshop, organized by AGU, the NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration, and the NSF Centers for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence (COSEE), will focus on "The Ocean: What Every Student Should Know." Educators will explore key concepts and fundamental ideas that every student should know about our oceans, discuss how these ideas relate to national and local science education standards, and explore useful hands-on classroom activities that can be used to teach these concepts. Participating teachers will also have an opportunity to attend technical sessions and exhibits of the Ocean Sciences meeting.

Registration deadline is Friday, 17 February 2006, and space is limited to the first 50 participants.
