ASLO Booth

The ASLO exhibit booth will provide an opportunity for those who are not currently members of ASLO to learn more about the society's activities and options for membership. Sample copies of the most current ASLO publications will be available as well. The booth also will serve as a gathering place for ASLO members. We invite all meeting participants to stop in.

TOS Booth

The Oceanography Society will provide a relaxing atmosphere where visitors can learn more about TOS activities such as future meetings, Oceanography magazine, newly selected TOS Fellows, the Walter Munk Award, and the Jerlov Award. Additionally, we will feature demonstrations of hands-on activities from our recent publication, "Teaching Physical Concepts: An Inquiry-Based Approach."

Business Center

Level 3 on north side of Oregon Convention Center

The Business Center is a self-service area with services and products including: computers, printers, copiers, and fax transmission capabilities. All machines accept debit and credit cards.

Child Care

Accent on Children's Arrangements, Inc. will provide daily professional childcare at the Oregon Convention Center, room D131, during session hours. Fees are $8 per hour per child for children ages 3 years and older, and $10 per hour per child for children 6 months to 35 months. Register online. Child care services are a contractual agreement between each individual and the child care company. Meeting organizers assume no responsibility for the services rendered.

To increase your ability to effectively keep up with your electronic communications, computers will be available to check email messages and view itineraries and meeting sessions. Please consider the environment before printing unnecessary pages. Also, newspapers containing the daily detailed sessions will be available for pick up in the common areas of the convention center.

Emergency Contact

We recommend that you create emergency contact information in your cell phone listed as ICE (In Case of Emergency) for use by health care providers or other emergency personnel if necessary.

Staff will be available to assist you with your poster location and other on-site needs. Push pins, tape, and scissors will be available for your use. Additional supplies may be available. However, if you have special needs for your poster presentation, we suggest you bring those supplies with you to the meeting. Presenters will also be able to place on-site orders for audio visual equipment here.

Guests

Guests or spouses not attending the scientific sessions may register at the meeting at no charge. A guest is a spouse, friend, or adult child (18 years old and older) who is not working in a geophysical science related occupation or field. A colleague or associate working in a related geophysical sciences field or studying geophysics in school may not register as a guest. Registered guests may only go to the exhibits and attend and purchase tickets to social events at the advertised rates.

Lost and Found will be located at the Message and Information Booths during session hours.

This central information center is accessible to anyone trying to contact meeting attendees. Messages can be left at the number listed above. Telephone messages will be posted on message boards. Please check these boards regularly in case other attendees are trying to reach you. Individuals cannot be paged. Outside of registration hours it is recommended that messages be left at the attendee's hotel.

Poster Printing Services

Meeting Organizers have made arrangements with Oregon Blue Print, a local Portland Printer, to print your posters for pick up at the Oregon Convention Center. The cost will be $72.50 USD per poster.

Files can be uploaded directly to ftp://obp-ftp.obpdigital.com. The user name is: obpdigital-ftp; the password is: public1945. The folder name is: 2010 Ocean Sciences Meeting. Once in the folder, users may have to click on the Page icon at top right, and then click Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer from the dropdown box. On the subsequent page, log in again with the user id/password; copy and paste your file. The program to be used for this process is Internet Explorer (IE) only. Submission of PDF files are strongly encouraged.

Once files are uploaded, email digitalprints@obpdigital.com or call (1-503-232-1161) to complete the order, including payment. Payment for all posters is required when placing the order. Participants will also be able to arrange poster printing on site for delivery during the week of the meeting. Please note that Oregon Blue Print needs at least 3 days to fulfill each order.

Press Room

Staff will hold press conferences; press releases and copies of journal articles about research being presented at the meeting are made available to reporters in the press room.

Staff will be on hand to process lost registrations, supply certificates of attendance, print guest badges, and answer any questions related to the registration process.

Speaker Ready Room

ALL speakers are required to check into the Speaker Ready Room at least 24 hours before their presentation. Those presenting on Monday, 22 February, must check in on Sunday in Room D133.

Transportation
