Honolulu is the sun and fun capital of the Hawaiian Islands with an array of sea, land and sporting activities from which to choose. Visitors will enjoy hiking through rainforests, biking along mountain ranges and swimming in the azure blue waters of the Pacific. These activities are excellent vehicles to explore the environment, history and experience the culture of the island.

AGU is unfortunately unable to provide childcare services at the convention center during this meeting. Information on a local childcare service that will provide sitters for your children in your hotel room is provided below for your information only.

Sitters Unlimited^®, founded in 1979, provides exceptional child care services, referring competent, nurturing individuals to provide quality care for children of hotel guests and residents on Oahu and on Hawaii's Big Island. Sitters Unlimited^® have Commercial General Liability Insurance coverage, and are licensed and bonded with the Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs State of Hawaii. All caregivers referred are CPR/First Aid certified with experience, references, and have agreed to follow the guidelines and policies set by Sitters Unlimited^® Corporate Headquarters. Sitters Unlimited^® also requires fingerprints, and obtains a TB and criminal/child abuse clearance.

Child Care Rates (4-hour minimum)

1 Child	$14.00 per hour
2 Children	$17.00 per hour
3 Children	$20.00 per hour
4 Children	$25.00 per hour

(Plus Hawaii state tax (4.166%) and any applicable miscellaneous charges, i.e. transportation/parking fees)

Combined Family Rate
There may be an additional charge when two (2) or more families are combining children into one room.

Cancellation Fee
A $35.00 cancellation fee is due if request is cancelled in less than 24 hours prior to scheduled start time. In addition, a transportation fee may be applicable.

Airline Discounts

Save money on your domestic travel costs to Honolulu on United Airlines! You will receive a 5% discount off the lowest applicable discount fare, including first class, or a 10% discount off midweek coach fares purchased 7 days in advance. If purchasing at least 30 days in advance of the travel dates, you receive an additional 5% discount off the already discounted or special fare. Or you may choose Area Pricing, a discounted, fixed-rate airfare based on geographical location, which must be purchased 7 days in advance.

Travel Insurance

Participants traveling from outside the United States may wish to purchase accident and medical insurance protection during their visit to Hawaii. Seabury and Smith, an association service organization, offers coverage through its Gateway USA program. Insurance must be purchased for a minimum of 15 days, up to a maximum of 60 days. Prices will vary depending upon the individual's age and choice of benefit package. All hotel reservation requests are handled on a first–come, first–served basis. Please note that our published hotels and rates are subject to availability. Sleeping room rates may increase after 14 July, 2004.

AGU has negotiated rates at a number of hotels in Honolulu, and you may select the one that best suits your needs. Rooms are filled on a first come first served basis and may fill up.

Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki: single/double rates — $145

Ala Moana Hotel: (Meeting HQ) single double — $129 with special economy rate at $105 (limited availability)

Ohana Maile Skycourt Hotel: standard room — $79, with kitchenette $89

Confirmations/Changes/Cancellations

The AGU Housing Bureau automatically sends acknowledgements once the request has been processed. You will not receive a confirmation form the hotel. Acknowledgements are sent via email, fax, or mail. If you do not receive your acknowledgement within 15 business days, please contact the Housing Bureau.

Please contact the AGU Housing Bureau for changes or cancellations through 14 July 2004, 5 p.m. CT without penalty. Credit cards may be charged one night's room and tax by the hotel after 14 July 2004. Cancellations AFTER 14 July 2004, are subject to a $16 processing fee.

Additions/changes/cancellations will continue to be accepted based on availability through 30 July 2004. You may contact the hotels directly after 30 July 2004. In addition to State and Local tax, there may be an additional $1 to $3 occupancy tax charge by the hotel.
