Visit Your Legislator
AGU co-sponsors two yearly events called Congressional Visits Day (CVD) that help our members come to Washington, DC, and meet with their legislators. Now, AGU is also helping members visit their legislators in their home districts as well!
If you want to get involved with science and politics but don’t want to travel to Washington, DC, you can easily meet with your Representative or Senator during Congressional recesses. This serves as a perfect opportunity for you to meet with your legislator while they are conveniently situated near you.
AGU staff will be more than happy to help you establish a relationship with your legislator so that you can discuss the importance of your research and the significance of federally funded research for agencies such as NSF, NOAA, NASA, USGS, and DOE. AGU can schedule meetings for you, provide you with resources, and teach you how to communicate with members of Congress.
