Author Instructions

Applicable to all book series

As you prepare your files for submission, please read and follow these guidelines:

  • Please understand that you are submitting FINAL files. You will not have the opportunity to make revisions to your paper or images during the production process. The only changes which will be accepted will be corrections to errors made in the conversion/layout process. If any author-initiated revisions are required, the cost of those changes will be the responsibility of the author.
  • If your chapter contains italicized, bolded, or special characters, those characters should be formatted within your electronic file and reflected in the hard copy/PDF of your chapter.
  • If you are submitting your chapter in LaTeX, use the AGU template. If your chapter contains math, create file in the draft format, paying particular attention to breaks in the displayed equations. For submission and production-ready files, change command line to draft format.

All graphic files should be supplied as separate files from the main text file. Please name and number your images as follows:

  • All images should be referenced as “Figures” and numbered sequentially (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.).

If you submit incorrectly named/numbered image files, you will be asked to supply corrected copies of the manuscript and image files, and you may delay the publication of the volume.

Color fees charged to authors for printing color figures are:

  • 1st page = $700
  • 2nd page = $400
  • each additional page = $60
  • each color piece = $250 (mandatory charge: EACH color piece is charged $250—NO exceptions)

AUTHORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE READABILITY AND ACCURACY OF THE FINAL COPY THAT IS SUPPLIED.
