Presentation Options
AGU journals offer many ways to present research that expands beyond the printed page. Movies, animations, downloadable data tables, calculation worksheets, and three-dimensional models allow authors to demonstrate, rather than simply explain, scientific findings. To learn more about the following options, contact graphics-help@agu.org.
- Movies in MPEG or AVI format
- Animated GIFs
- Virtual reality images in VRML
- Downloadable data tables as tab-delimited text
- Related links to external databases
- Mathematica and MatLab Notebooks
- Excel Worksheets
These multimedia files and additional features are accessible through the navigation bar of the HTML and, depending on their relationship to the research being presented, are handled as (1) dynamic content, (2) auxiliary material, or (3) enhanced figures.
Dynamic content, auxiliary material, and enhanced figures files are stored in the permanent archive with journal articles. Files must therefore be in acceptable formats that enable AGU to guarantee long-term accessibility.
Alternatively, for dynamic material created with proprietary software that AGU cannot guarantee will be accessible in the future, such as MatLab Notebooks or Excel worksheets, authors can provide a text file that describes the model, method, or data presented for storage in the archive.
