ROV technical specifications outlined
An information and technical specifications document (Version 1.0, July 22, 1993) describing their remotely operated and towed vehicle facilities available for deep ocean research has been prepared by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
The current WHOI suite of ROV and towed systems for use in scientific field data acquisition consists of Jason-Medea, ARGOII, and the high-frequency (120 kHz, 200 kHz), side-looking sonars. The document provides an overview of each of these systems along with detailed specifications and at-sea manpower requirements. It also describes the various data products available to science parties who use these systems. Guidelines for preparation of science proposals that use the WHOI ROV or towed systems are provided as Appendix B to the document.
