Abstract
Oceanological problems, which need the knowledge of peculiarities of pulse propagation in the sea, are analyzed. Optical characteristics
of typical particles of marine suspension at pulse irradiation are calculated. It is shown that efficiencies for backscattering
for the pulse and monochromatic wave differ markedly. For efficiencies for scattering and for extinction, these differences
are much less noticeable. Reasons for these differences are explained.
