Reply [to Comment on “Chapman and Alfven: A rigorous mathematical physicist versus an inspirational experimental physicist”]
University of Alaska-Fairbanks
My article was not intended to be a history of magnetospheric research and magnetic storm study; in fact, I do not wish to be a historian. The purpose of my article was to point out only the veryroot of the Chapman-Allven controversy at its outset. I concluded that it was a confrontation of a rigorous mathematical physicist versus an inspirational experimental physicist, as the title of my article indicates.
