We have analysed solar spectra obtained with the McMath-Pierce telescope on Kitt Peak, Arizona, for column amount of HCl for the period Sept. 1971 through Feb. 2007 using the absorption line at 3.4168 μm. In addition to the previously well-established increase in amount from 1971 to ∼1993 and a plateau between ∼1993 and ∼1997, we now see a definite decrease from ∼1997 to 2007.
