The AGU Digital Library

The AGU has a long and proud history of publishing. Its roots go back to 1896, when the journal Terrestrial Magnetism first appeared. AGU began to produce its journals digitally in full text starting with the 2002 volumes—but in today’s digital, networked environment, researchers expect to reach all our published output online: including those 1896 issues.

The AGU is in the midst of digitizing all those “back issues,” issues that contain more than 1 million printed pages. When the project is completed in late 2007, AGU will add to its digital library over 60,000 journal articles, the content of over 600 books containing 10,000 articles, and 100,000 pages from the Eos shelf edition. The digital library will include each journal back to volume 1, issue 1, every book AGU has published, and the substantial content from the Union’s transactions and newspaper, Eos.

About this preview

We have assembled a preview for AGU member subscribers of Geophysical Research Letters (GRL) and Member Journal Library. The preview contains digitized material going back to 1974, volume 1; the remaining volumes will come into the preview by the end of April 2007. The current preview is in the beta stage and does not include linked references or the option for single articles sales, which will be available when the library is complete. At a later date, the AGU Library Advisory Group will work with librarians for their input on the AGU Digital Library.

Member subscribers are invited to explore GRL online, to offer us feedback about the nascent service, and to get a taste of what it will be like to have all of AGU’s distinguished content literally at your fingertips.
