How To Submit a Proposal for an Eos Lead/Feature Article
To help Eos editors balance the subjects covered so that all scientific interests of the membership are represented with reasonable frequency in the first pages of Eos, feature articles are by invitation. Authors who are interested in preparing a feature should carefully read the Guide for Authors of Eos and then submit a proposal for the Eos editors to consider.
Your proposal should be less than 500 words and should answer the following questions:
- What is the topic/focus of the intended article?
- Who is the primary audience for the article?
- Why should the readership of Eos be interested?
- When did you last see the subject or general subject area covered in Eos?
- What would you address in the article? Your answer to this question should comprise most of your proposal and should clearly describe what the reader would learn.
Proposals should be submitted through the GEMS submission system for Eos. Designate your text as “lead article proposal.” It is not necessary to provide an abstract. You my use the “suggested reviewer” section of the submission form to provide names of individuals with whom the editorial board might consult as they evaluate your proposal.
If a proposal is accepted and an invitation offered, an editor will work with you to set a deadline. You will be reminded in advance of the deadline. It will be important to adhere to the scheduled delivery date so that the balance of topics in Eos can be maintained.
