AGU Home    Where's My April Issue?

Published in Eos, 25 June 2002

It's online. Members subscribing to the printed version of any AGU journal only will have access to the online version of the corresponding journal through 31 August 2002. If you suspect that the print versions of AGU journals are running late, you are correct. The April and May issues have been deliberately held up to correct an error in the type size. The type in the January through March issues is smaller than intended-an error in the specifications that went undetected in the first issues. Before the April, May, and subsequent issues are printed, the type is being enlarged for all journals except GRL. For GRL, the type size will be the same as it was when the author saw the proof. The type size for more newly processed GRL papers will be comparable to that of all journals in prior years.

Even when the journal printing is back on schedule, you may sense that issues still seem to arrive later than they did previously. Once again, you will be correct. Prior to 2002, journals were printed so that they would arrive in North America by or shortly after the date on the cover. Since 1 January 2002, articles have been published online as they are ready. Every Tuesday through Saturday is a publication day except holidays. The printed issues are a byproduct of the online versions.

For the journals with monthly frequency, each printed journal contains the articles published online during the month corresponding to the cover date. The print version of journals with less-than-monthly frequency contain the articles published in the 2- or 3-month period preceding the cover month. For journals with a semi-monthly frequency, the first printed issue of the month contains articles published online between the first and the fifteenth of the month; the second contains articles published between the sixteenth and the last publishing day of the month.

The chart below shows the planned mailing dates for the April through June issues. It also shows the normal mailing date, which should be in effect for the July issues and following. This schedule and any updates to it will be available online at www.agu.org/pubs/stats.
