Recent Advances in Atmospheric Response to Land Forcing

It is well known that the land characteristics vary extensively even at a scale of a few meters. Recent advances on the impact of their spatial variability on the atmosphere at the microscale and mesoscale is discussed in the following subsections. The purpose of this discussion is the evaluate the importance of the dynamical response of the atmosphere to land-surface heterogeneities on land-atmosphere interactions at the GCM grid scale.
