AGU 1995–1996 Congressional Science Fellow

Timothy Cohn, Ph.D.

Dr. Cohn was the nineteenth AGU Congressional Science Fellow, working with Senator Bill Bradley of New Jersey from 1995–1996.

Dr. Cohn holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering/Water Resources from Cornell University. He came to the fellowship after working for many years as a hydrologist with the Water Resources Division of the US Geological Survey. During his fellowship year, Dr. Cohn served as a legislative assistant to Senator Bill Bradley on issues related to energy and the environment.

He has served as the USGS Director's Science Advisor for Hazards, where he helped coordinate USGS programs that apply science to the challenge of reducing the Nation's vulnerability to natural hazards. He is currently working as a hydrologist in the USGS Office of Surface Water. He has authored more than 25 papers on methods for estimating flood risk and other topics.

AGU galvanizes a community of Earth and space scientists that collaboratively advances and communicates science and its power to ensure a sustainable future.
