Congressional Briefing: Landsat 8 Begins Washington, DC, 10 May 2013
Following its successful launch in February, Landsat 8 will begin its mission on May 30th. This advanced satellite will systematically acquire images of Earth, extending Landsat's four-decade record of our planet.
American Geophysical Union/Climate Science Legal Defense Fund Legal Education Webinar Series
In recent years, an increasing number of scientists have found themselves involved in legal discussions about their work, their correspondence, and their public statements. To better prepare the scientific community for these challenges, AGU and CSLDF have put together a legal education program for the scientific community. The goal is to both give a primer on the legal issues facing scientists and update them on legal situations currently making their way through the courts.

Congressional Briefing: Melting Sea Ice in the Arctic – Science to Understand the Impacts to Our National Security, Natural Resources, and Economy Washington, DC, 20 March 2013
Changes in Arctic sea ice coverage are happening at unprecedented rates, with 2012 setting a new record low for sea ice extent. Our ability to predict changes of sea ice loss and understand the impacts on society, from commercial shipping to resource availability, will be driven by further scientific research in the region. Areas for discussion include: current data and what we understand about sea ice in the Arctic, how climate models contribute to future projections, and why we need to be prepared for a seasonal ice-free region.
