American Geophysical Union Meeting
The 1997 Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union will be held at the Moscone Center, San Francisco, Monday through Friday, December 8-12, 1997. More than 6,000 papers and poster sessions will be presented during the five-day meeting.

December 8-12Many of the sessions have been structured to promote interdisciplinary understanding of the processes and structure of the Earth, planets, and space. The annual meeting provides journalists with the latest scientific findings in Earth and space science research, and offers direct access to the experts. Nearly 7,500 of the world's leading geophysicists attended last year's Fall Meeting.

The Fall Meeting program and electronically-submitted abstracts are now available on the AGU web site. The URL for web site's top page is http://www.agu.org. This easy-to-navigate section offers a searchable index and other valuable tools to help journalists prepare for the meeting.
FREE REGISTRATION is offered to the working media. This includes free meeting registration, abstract volume, meeting program, and Press Room privileges. Registered media have access to all scientific sessions as well as the press briefings. Media may also schedule use of the Press Briefing Room for interviews.
TO REGISTER and receive an advance copy of the meeting abstracts, return the News Media Registration Form to the AGU Public Information Office by Nov. 27, 1997. Media may also register at the meeting in the Press Room and pick up all information materials at that time.
HOUSING INFORMATION is available. Individuals are responsible for making their own hotel reservations.
