Media Advisory: AGU Offers Direct Electronic Access to Selected Papers

Starting in September 2007, the American Geophysical Union will provide live electronic links to research papers mentioned in AGU press releases and tip sheets (Journal Highlights). Members of the press who register with AGU for direct electronic access will be able to click on those links to obtain copies of papers.

The new capability will free journalists who register for this service from having to contact the organization’s public information officers to receive copies. Each electronically accessible paper will remain available online to reporters for one month from the date of issue of the press release or the Journal Highlights in which the paper is cited. Papers will be available for download in .pdf format.

Journalists who would like to sign up for this service should email or phone either of the AGU contacts listed above to let us know that you would like to register. In response, you will receive a username, password, and description of how to log in and access a .pdf version of a paper. Eligibility for this service is limited to working press employed by bona fide news media and to freelance journalists.
