Contents 1. General information Venue: The 2002 Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union takes place Friday morning through Tuesday afternoon, December 6 to 10, at the Moscone Convention Center, 747 Howard Street, San Francisco, California 94103. Pre-registration: As usual, we expect over 9,000 scientists to participate, along with more than 100 science writers and public information officers. Media representatives and PIOs are encouraged to register in advance, using the form at the end of this message. Those who do will avoid waiting on line to receive press credentials at the meeting and can receive an advance copy of the abstracts. You may also register onsite in the Press Room (not at the main registration windows). Please see Part 6 below for eligibility requirements. Abstracts: Press pre-registrants may receive, while supplies last, the Abstract volume in book or CD-ROM form by mail or express service. This will help you plan ahead to navigate through the estimated 7,000 oral and poster presentations in the 260 planned sessions at the meeting. Others will receive their copy of the Abstracts, and everyone will receive the Program Book, upon check-in at the Press Room, where on-site press registration is also possible. Note: the Abstract book and CD-ROM will be available in mid-November. Abstracts, which are still being received, will also be viewable on the AGU web site; a subsequent advisory will provide the URL, once it is established. In addition to saving and reviewing this advisory, please consult the
