VGP Student Awards Committee (2011-2013)  (top)

The Student Awards committee judges presentations for Best Student Paper awards at the Fall and Spring Meetings. This is the largest committee in VGP. AGU has a vigorous Outreach committee. Randy Richardson is the chair of the AGU Outreach committee and now serves as principal contact for our section. Pranoti Asher, AGU's Education and Public Outreach Manager, provides additional support. Randy will work with the Outreach committee to substantially increase the education component at fall and spring meetings. VGP would like to expand the role of our committee both in the realm of education and in outreach.

AGU elections take place every two years. The VGP Nominations Committee is charged with identifying two candidates for Secretary and two for President-elect of the section. A new committee will be appointed to identify candidates for the 2012-2014 term.

Awards Committees

VGP has five awards committees that solicit nominations for awards and also recommend candidates for the Bowen and Kuno Awards to the VGP officers and for Fellows to the AGU Fellows Committee. The Union Committee was added in 2004 in order to solicit nominations for other Union medals and awards (e.g., Hess Medal, Bucher Medal, etc., exclusive of the Macelwane Medal).
