Organize a Special Session for the AGU AS Section

It's Easy!

First, pick a topic of you think a session should be organized around. For example, a measurement campaign, an emerging science controversy, or breakthrough new science.

Second, contact the Section Secretary before the first call for papers so that it can be listed in EOS. If you miss the first call, don't despair, you have time to get it in before the second call. The deadline for the first call is roughly six months ahead of the meeting.

Follow the AGU instructions for preparing a proposal and submit it to the AGU meetings website:

2007 Fall Meeting, 10-14 December 2007, San Francisco.  Click here to submit a proposal for a special session.  Deadline:June 13.

The Section Secretary will ask you to write a paragraph about your special session. The Secretary will also ask you to invite a few key speakers, and the Secretary will ask you to be available just after the abstract deadline to help organize the papers and decide what will be oral and what will be in the poster sessions. You can also name the session chairman or take on that role yourself.

Organizing a session is a great idea. It isn't a lot of work, and it's a great service to the community!
