Announcements:
AGU is now accepting
nominations for AGU Fellows for 2010. Read the important message
from OS Section President John Farrington. Deadline for nominations 1
July.
The National Academy of Sciences is seeking nominations for the Alexander Aggasiz Medal,
which is given "to recognize an original contribution in the science of
oceanography" and includes a monetary award of $15,000.
Nomination deadline 15 September.
The National Science and Technology Council’s Joint Subcommittee on Ocean Science and Technology is seeking comments on the national ocean research priorities highlighted in Charting
the Course for Ocean Science in the United States for the Next Decade:
An Ocean Research Priorities Plan and Implementation Strategy. Read the letter from the JSOST Co-Chairs. Comments should be submitted by email before 17 July.

Ocean Sciences Meeting, 22-26 Feb, Portland OR. "From
Observation to Prediction in the 21st Century".
Frank Bryan has been appointed Editor-in-chief of JGR-Oceans.
Joining him as editors are Des Barton, Miguel Goni, Harvey Seim and
Chunzai Wang. Editors Bruno Tremblay and Robert Weisberg are
continuing. Current Editor-in-chief Jim Kirby and Ragu Murtugudde are
retiring. Thank you for your service to AGU!
