Announcements:
Two AGU position statements, one about NASA issues and one about ocean research, are currently being revised. Additionally, a position statement on geoengineering
(pdf), written by the American Meteorological Society, will also be
submitted to AGU Council. In December, the Council will vote on
adopting these three statements as official AGU position
statements. However, before the Council vote, AGU members have
the opportunity to provide comments during the position statement writing process.

David Johnson Award.
The Award recognizes young professionals who have developed
an
innovative application of Earth observation satellite data (alone or in
combination with non-satellite data) that is, or could be, used for
operational purposes to assess and/or predict atmospheric, oceanic, or
terrestrial conditions. Nomination deadline 1 December.
