Russian Journal of Earth Sciences

Message from the Editor

Dear Readers,

It has now been more than two years since Volume 1 of our journal was issued. Over that brief period, we have published more than 70 papers on various problems of geology, geochemistry, and geophysics, attracting the attention of scientists in Russia and worldwide alike.

Beginning with Volume 3, underway in 2001, the Editorial Board of the Russian Journal of Earth Sciences is embarking on the publication of an English-language version of the Journal. The initiative for publishing it in English lies with the American Geophysical Union (AGU), which has provided the necessary funding and taken it upon itself to organize subscription and distribution.

Our editorial policy remains, as ever, to publish quickly the most important accomplishments of Russian scientists in geology, geochemistry, and geophysics. Priority is given to interdisciplinary contributions in pivotal issues of Earth sciences, to innovative original studies in geology, geochemistry, and geophysics from Russia’s regions and adjacent areas and, importantly, to integrated analyses of Eurasia’s territory as a whole.

All the contributions submitted undergo a standard reviewing procedure, whose outcome is crucial to editorial decisions on their publication.

Upcoming volumes are planned with a new section for brief communications for quicker publication of top-priority contributions. We hope that our journal will maintain and improve its standing among the leading journals on Earth sciences.

A. F. Grachev, Editor-in-Chief
