Scientific Program FAQs

Where can I find the meeting schedule?
The schedule at-a-glance will be available mid-July.

How do I submit a session proposal?
The deadline to submit a proposal for scientific workshops, town halls, Union and scientific sessions has passed. For further assistance, please contact the scientific program team.

When will session conveners and organizers be notified of their acceptance?
Conveners and organizers who submitted a proposal for #AGU21 will be sent notices of acceptance on 9 June. Notices will be sent from the email address: [email protected].

Town hall and workshop proposal notifications will be sent in late July.

Where do I find information about potential session types at the meeting?
Session types will be announced in early June.

When does abstract submissions open and close?
Abstract submissions open on Wednesday, 16 June. The abstract submission deadline is Wednesday, 4 August, 23:59 EDT.

There will be no exceptions to this deadline.

Is there an abstract submission fee?
Yes, there will be an additional fee. The abstract fee is separate from the membership or meeting registration fee.

All authors, including invited authors and students, are required to pay the abstract fee unless they are in low/middle-income countries.

Do I have to be an AGU member to submit an abstract?
In order to submit an abstract, the author must be a current 2021 AGU member or a member of one of our affiliated societies.

Is there a fee to hold a Town Hall?
Yes, upon acceptance, the submitter will be charged an A/V fee ($100 USD) to support costs associated with AGU hosting the town hall.

Is there a fee to attend a Scientific Workshop?
AGU will charge workshop attendees an additional fee to attend each individual workshop. These fees will be posted in the coming months.

Do I have to register for the meeting?

Only those individuals who are attending or presenting at the meeting are required to register. More information on the meeting registration will be posted in June.
