Travel grants for the Ocean Sciences Meeting

The Ocean Sciences Meeting Student Travel Grant provides travel assistance to student presenters at the Ocean Sciences Meeting. All students presenting at the meeting may apply, but preference will be given to students from demographic groups that are underrepresented in the sciences.

Eligibility and application requirements

To demonstrate eligibility for an Ocean Sciences Meeting student travel grant, you must meet the following criteria and requirements for your application:

    Be a current student member of AGU, the Oceanography Society, or the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography
  • 2
    Be an enrolled high school student, two- or four-year undergraduate student or graduate student at an academic institution
  • 3
    Have successfully submitted an abstract prior to filling out your travel grant application. You must include your abstract reference number on the application
  • 4
    Be a first author presenting a paper or poster at the Ocean Sciences Meeting
  • 5
    Demonstrate sufficient funding resources to cover your meeting registration and travel expenses
  • 6
    Demonstrate strong scientific merit in your abstract to application reviewers

Grant payment

If offered a travel grant, you must check in at the meeting as proof of attendance. Grant funds will be sent to recipients after the meeting. You must pay your own meeting registration fee. Grants do not require receipts for expenses as this grant does not fund any particular portion of travel. Grant awards are $500 for U.S. and Canadian attendees and $1,000 for international attendees.
