- Have a title under 300 characters and text under 2,000 characters (punctuation included, spaces excluded).
- Either list all team members or a research team name, if preferred.
- Include one image or table (.jpg preferred; .png and .gif accepted). Multiple images must be combined into one file.
Note: Abstracts are editable until the submission deadline.
1. REGISTER
- You must register for the meeting to present. Please register by the 5 May 2026 deadline.
2. PRESENTATION REQUIREMENTS
- Please prepare a PowerPoint with your content.
- Slides must be submitted ahead of the meeting. An AGU representative will contact you with a link to upload your presentation.
- Total time allotted for your presentation is 20 minutes (15-minute talk plus 3-minute Q&A). To stay on schedule and allow transition to the next speaker, please ensure your talk is no longer than 15 minutes.
- Presentations should be formatted to 16:9.
- The podium laptop will be a PC.
In presenting your topic, we ask that you focus your 15-minute overview remarks on the state of the field, as opposed to your own research specifically. Please highlight particularly advances in the five years since IPCC AR6, as well as new advances expected in the next 1-3 years.
1. REGISTER
- You must register for the meeting to present. Please register by the 5 May 2026 deadline.
2. CREATE & PRINT YOUR POSTER
- Maximum Poster Dimensions: 116 cm x 116 cm (46 in x 46 in). Please do not exceed these maximum dimensions.
- Each presenter will have a 4’W x 4’H poster board side.
- Place images, text, logos, etc. at least 1-inch from the poster edge.
3. CREATE SUMMARY SLIDE TO PRESENT A LIGHTNING TALK
- To maximize engagement during your designated poster session, you will have the opportunity to present a lightning talk of no more than 60 seconds (strictly enforced) using 1 static slide (landscape, no animation) at the start of your poster session to highlight your poster to the entire group of attendees. The lightning talk is optional, but strongly encouraged. You may also create a poster PDF to be shared with registered attendees virtually after the meeting.
- Your lightning talk slide must be submitted ahead of the meeting. An AGU representative will contact you with a link to upload your slide.
- Use the following naming convention for your files:
- Lightning talk file (PPT): SessionDay_BoardNumber_LastName.ppt (e.g., Monday_20_Smith).
- Poster file (PDF): SessionDay_BoardNumber_LastName_poster.pdf (e.g., Monday_20_Smith_poster)
4. SET UP YOUR POSTER
- Posters will be displayed for the day of your designated poster session. Please remove your poster at the end of the day or it will be recycled.
- Thumbtacks will be provided onsite to hang your poster.
- Your poster board number is located in the online meeting program and your notification email.
Best Practices
- Organize the poster so it is clear, orderly and self-explanatory.
- Group similar ideas together.
- Label elements as I, II, III; or 1, 2, 3; or A, B, C.
- Avoid clutter (e.g. too much text).
- Include key details such as background, results, and conclusion.
Font Recommendations
- Paragraphs/captions – 24 points (0.9 centimeters high) minimum
- Headers – 36 points (1.2 centimeters high) minimum
- Use different colors and textures/symbols for each line or bar.
- Use a sans serif font (e.g. Arial, Calibri, Tahoma, Lucida Sans Unicode, and Veranda) for main text, headers, and tables.
Important Details
- Do not laminate your poster so that it can be recycled if you do not plan to keep it
- Put your abstract title, paper number, and session date and time at the top of the poster.
- Make authors’ names and contact information clearly visible.
- Make sure diagrams or charts can be read from 2 meters away.
5. REHEARSE
- Organize your ideas so that you can quickly review your work with other attendees.
- Create an elevator pitch.
- Focus on the material as submitted and accepted in your abstract.
- Rehearse speaking slowly and clearly. If your rehearsal runs long, reduce the material and rehearse again.
- Use simple, active and short sentences.
