Recognizing Outstanding Early Career Contributions to Mineral and Rock Physics
The Mineral and Rock Physics Early Career Award is presented annually and recognizes outstanding contributions by an early-career scientist in the broadly defined area of mineral and rock physics. The nominee’s work may be experimental, computational, theoretical, or a combination. Successful nominees must be within 10 years of receiving their Ph.D. or highest terminal degree.
Honor Benefits
Recipients receive the following:
- A $500 prize
- An award certificate
- Recognition in Eos
- Recognition at AGU's annual meeting during the award presentation year
About the Mineral and Rock Physics Section
The Mineral and Rock Physics Section fosters a focus on the properties of the Earth’s materials and their current physical state and chemical makeup as well as the processes that have governed their evolution.
Eligibility
Nominee
The nominee must be:
- an active AGU member
- primarily affiliated with the Mineral and Rock Physics section
- an early-career scientist within 10 years of receiving their Ph.D
Nominators
Nominators are not required to hold an active AGU membership.
