Recognizing Outstanding Applications of Natural Hazard Science

The Natural Hazards Mitigation Award is given annually to recognize outstanding applications of natural hazard science to mitigate natural hazards via work possibly including, but not limited to, public policy, new methods, or effective outreach.

  • Recognition at AGU's annual meeting the year the honor is awarded

About the Natural Hazards Section

The Natural Hazards Section fosters a focus within AGU on studies of geophysical hazards, including droughts, earthquakes, fires, flooding, heat waves, landslides, space weather, storms, tsunamis, volcanoes, impact by near-Earth objects, and related events.


The nominee must be:
  • a middle-career or experienced scientist
  • affiliated with the Natural Hazards section (primary or secondary).
